Buckeye Trail senior Sam Wayble earned medalist honors at the OHSAA Division III district golf tournament to secure a qualification for the state tournament at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury. Wayble carded an even-par 72 after overcoming a 2-over-par 38 on the front nine.
Wayble sealed his championship performance on the 18th green at River Green Golf Course by sinking a high-pressure birdie putt to cap off a stellar back-nine 34. His clutch finish secured the East District medalist crown over a competitive field of regional golfers.
The senior leader enters the state tournament focused on consistency, fairway accuracy, and smart risk management across his final 36 high school holes in the postseason.
