In Greenwich, Connecticut, a beloved pet cat named Turtle has officially made a miraculous return home after vanishing for 571 days and traversing state boundaries. Turtle, who originally came to Connecticut as a rescue stray from Tennessee, slipped out through a partially opened screen door in March 2025. His heartbroken owner, Kelly Moore, feared the absolute worst after initial trail sightings dried up, but she never completely gave up hope of seeing her companion again.
Following his sudden disappearance, Moore reached out to Rocco Autero, founder of Rocket Lost Pet Rescue, who set up trail cameras around the Greenwich neighborhood. Although cameras initially confirmed Turtle was wandering nearby, the elusive feline was terrified of cages and eventually vanished from the area entirely. The long-awaited breakthrough finally came when an alert resident spotted a roaming cat across state lines in Mamaroneck, New York, and shared photos online. Autero spotted the post, recognized the distinct ear tip indicating the cat was neutered, and quickly investigated.
A microchip scan confirmed Turtle's identity, bringing an emotional and joyful conclusion to the 19-month mystery. After rescuers carefully secured Turtle into a carrier, he was safely transported back to Connecticut and placed back in the loving arms of his family. Moore expressed immense relief and joy, noting that Turtle's safe return proves that even against impossible odds, wonderful miracles can happen.
