The West Muskingum boys soccer team captured a milestone 1-0 victory against Muskingum Valley League opponent River View on Thursday night to lift the Division IV East District trophy.
Under the direction of head coach Ryan Barks, the Tornadoes' defensive unit held firm throughout the contest to preserve the shutout and secure the program's first district championship in nearly two decades.
With the district title secured, West Muskingum advances to the regional round to face St. Clairsville at Cambridge High School in a rematch of last year's district final.
